Loss of Rights

I speak often about the loss of our freedom. I think I create confusion with the difference between rights and freedom. Infringement on freedom is often done with out losing our so-called rights. I see a loss of freedom as steps toward losing our rights. Sometimes I wonder how many people actually know what its like to FEEL freedom. No matter how polite law enforcement or security is I feel angry when my movement is interrupted by questions and searches. It is insulting and demeaning. The difference between illegal search and seizure and a security check is a very very fine line. It reminds me of military check points like going from East to West Germany in the cold war days. It struck me then when I was a mere boy that this was wrong. Society now fully accepts airport security as a necessary evil.
My recent blog about the Soccer Mom was confusing. I talked about earning the right to carry when I should have said the freedom to carry. With freedom comes a great deal of responsibilty and I was upset with soccer mom for not doing so. She was threatening the loss of a freedom by being inconsiderate and a lack of discretion. In Minnesota you can earn the freedom to carry but it is very limited. The same time this law was made so was another that said you could not carry in or on the property of any establishment that posted a sign against it. If they do not have the same law they will have it now because of soccer moms action.
General human perception is if you carry a concealed weapon you do so for protection, if you show your weapon you do so for intimidation. There is no law against taking you pet tarantual to a scoccer game. If you do, you will frighten some people and some people will just feel a little uncomfortable. There will be some that will be intrigued and some that will think of mischief as it crawls across your body. Just be responsible and considerate of others. Keep your spider in a box in your bag and feel good about your pet accompanying you to the game.
